Welcome to Ithaca Reef

Ithaca Reef is an ornamental marine fish hatchery in Ithaca, NY. We are breeding various species of clownfish, dottybacks and gobies, and selling them to the local pet stores in Upstate and Western New York. We are also growing various soft corals and experiment with breeding of ornamental shrimps. Ithaca Reef  is a family owned and operated company.

The company is a natural extension of our marine aquarium hobby - it gradually evolved from our 75 gal reef aquarium into two 180 gal reef tanks plus about 1,500 gallons of the hatchery tanks. Breeding marine fish, and especially clownfish, is a lot of fun (and a lot of work as well). But we should not forget that raising and selling marine fish for the hobby helps preserving the fish population in the wild, which is currently under strong pressure due to worldwide decline of coral reefs caused by global warming and other destructive human activities.

We have just started to overhaul our web site.  Many web pages are still empty (you will find a list of active pages when clicking on an empty one), but they should be filled very soon. This site is meant to help pet shop owners and operators to find out more about our techniques, operations and background, as well as check what fish and invertebrates are currently available. Price list will be soon available online for registered shops.  We also hope to present on this site some useful information about  clownfish breeding, aquarium keeping and other topics interesting for any hobbyist, advanced or beginner.
